Consuelo is a 32′0″ x 8′8″ cat yawl designed by N.G. Herreshoff and built by Herreshoff Mfg. Co., Bristol, Rhode Island in 1883. In his younger days, Herreshoff preferred catamarans and produced several, but at age 35, he shifted to the other extreme with this deep-draft, heavily ballasted cruiser. She was among his favorites, and unusual not only in her rig but in carrying all of her ballast outside in a cast lead keel.

Alice II is a 29′6″ x 11′0″ cat yawl designed by N.G. Herreshoff and built by Herreshoff Mfg. Co., Bristol, Rhode Island in 1889. She was built for NGH’s brother Charles, and had a rig change and full keel added later on. Her derelict hull is in the collection at Herreshoff Marine Museum where it reveals much about early HMCo construction techniques.
