Maud is a 20′ x 4′6″ steam launch for the steam yacht Siesta. She was designed by N.G. Herreshoff and built by Herreshoff Mfg. Co., Bristol, Rhode Island in 1882. Running in near silence, her passengers sheltered from wind and spray by the mellontop canopy, Maud shuttled back and forth between the shore, other yachts, and her mother ship Siesta, which anchored while cruising finding suitable docks scarce. Rather than being towed, Maud was hoisted on davits while Siesta was underway.
